Title: Director
Location: Alberta, Manitoba, or Atlantic Canada
Hours: Full-time (up to 35 hours per week)
Start Date: March 1st, 2025
Type: Permanent Role
Salary: $90,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.

Position Summary

We are seeking a self-motivated and passionate energy efficiency subject matter expert with a strong project management background.

​

The Director will lead a variety of projects related to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions such as electric vehicles, energy efficiency, and deep building retrofits and codes.

​

The Director will work with and support all areas of business and practice, specifically managing staff to oversee and ensure the effective and efficient delivery of projects, research, and advisory services while maintaining a high level of professionalism at all times internally and externally with clients and partners. 

 

The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex multi-year, multi-sectoral initiatives across regions, managing remote teams, and knowledge about the Canadian energy landscape. Since RFS Energy is a small and nimble energy consulting firm with strong relationships in the clean energy sector across the country our team is always looking for ways to facilitate getting innovative projects off the ground providing the opportunity to bring forward and work on your own clean energy project ideas in a supportive environment. 

The Director is expected to undertake the following functions and responsibilities:​​

Organizational Background

Founded in 2020, RFS Energy is a mission-driven consulting firm that brings people together to propel planning, research and climate change policy into action and impact. We are a small Canadian organization with a team of energy efficiency, climate and strategic planning experts based across the country.

 

With decades of experience working directly with utilities, government agencies, academic institutions, communities and non-profit partners across Canada - our team draws from a unique perspective rooted in project implementation to provide advisory services, as well as bringing innovative research to life. As a small consulting firm, we provide research, advisory services and project management support on a wide variety of projects and topics, including:

  • Energy efficiency and conservation

  • Deep energy retrofits for buildings and market readiness

  • Electric vehicles, including electric school buses

  • Climate change adaptation and resilience

RFS Energy operates in a remote work environment. Some travel is occasionally required.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

  • A minimum of 5 years working in the energy efficiency industry​

  • Strong project management skills and experience is a must​

  • Graduate with research experience in one of the following fields: Environmental Studies, Science, Business Administration.​

  • Knowledge of and passion for environmental issues, especially clean energy, the just transition, net zero and/or energy efficiency.​

  • Comfortable working remotely using online platforms for check-ins and meetings (Google Meet, Zoom, etc.) and strong computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite & cloud-based software.​

  • Ability to manage tasks independently in a virtual environment while communicating closely with colleagues and supervisors on an ongoing basis.​

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and spoken.​

  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.​

  • Excellent personal motivation with a proven ability to build and work collaboratively in a strong team concept environment.​

  • Direct work or volunteer experience in the environmental or climate-related field is preferred.
